Miss Sol Plaatje University (SPU) finalist, Sadi Ulalia, hosted an intimate music and arts day-event on Saturday, 30 March, to raise funds for an SPU charitable event that will be revealed at a later stage in the battle for the crown.
The Gathering, hosted in Ulalia’s garden, at the backdrop of a rustic and simplistic themed picnic style luncheon, quartered artistic acts from students of SPU, from spoken word to the melodious rhythms of classical jazz played by Carl Julius and the angelic voices of Melvina and Abigail.

“The Gathering was inspired by my journey through Mr &Ms Campus SPU, 2019. We, as finalists, were tasked to show our entrepreneurial skills to raise funds. I invited students, lecturers, family and friends. I wish to grow a culture of continuous interaction between various people in the Kimberley and the Northern Cape community. The Gathering team wishes to grow by hosting an array of intimate events and have people book the space for such,” commented Ulalia.

The fifty finalists of Mr & Miss SPU received an entrepreneurial workshop to sharpen their entrepreneurial abilities prior to the assignment of raising R1000 for charity. They will be subject to the judges’ scrutiny, as they determine how well the finalists applied what they had learned in the workshop. Once the judges have decided, ten female and ten male contestants will be cut from the list after which the thirty contestants will face the next challenge as they fight to walk away with the laurels.
